About CHIP-J

Our Mission & Vision

CHIP-J (Connected Hub for Innovation and Policy – Japan) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the semiconductor ecosystem between Silicon Valley and Japan. Through regular study groups, industry events, and policy discussions, we foster cross-border collaboration among engineers, researchers, business leaders, and policymakers.

Born from the Silicon Valley Semiconductor Study Group and Bay Area Semiconductor Study Group communities, CHIP-J serves as a platform where knowledge meets policy, and innovation meets implementation.

Semiconductor Education

Regular study groups covering cutting-edge semiconductor technology, manufacturing, and supply chain topics.

Industry Networking

Connecting professionals from Japan and the U.S. semiconductor industries for knowledge exchange and collaboration.

Policy Engagement

Facilitating dialogue between industry and government on semiconductor policy, including CHIPS Act and Japan's semiconductor strategy.

What We Do

Semiconductor Study Group

Weekly/bi-weekly study sessions covering semiconductor fundamentals, advanced packaging, EDA tools, fab processes, and industry trends. Open to all levels of expertise.

Guest Speaker Events

Inviting leaders from industry and government — including speakers from California GO-Biz, Rapidus Corporation, and leading research institutions — to share insights and engage in dialogue.

Weekly Reports

Publishing weekly semiconductor industry reports summarizing key developments, policy updates, and market trends for our community.

US-Japan Bridge Programs

Organizing cross-border initiatives that connect Silicon Valley's innovation ecosystem with Japan's semiconductor manufacturing excellence.
